About Us

Who We Are

St. Athanasius Orthodox Academy is an effort put forth by the leadership of St. Silouan Orthodox Church, with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Gregory of Nyssa of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of North America (ACROD).

We are a team of educators and God-fearing parents who are willing to dedicate our time and talents to giving our children a full and rich Christian education.

Our mission

Orthodox classical education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on the True, the Good, and the Beautiful, so that the child, in Christ, can achieve theosis.

As a young deacon, Athanasius stood at the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325. As Bishop of Alexandria he defended the faith of Nicaea, that Christ is truly God, and was sent into exile five times for it.

When much of the world stood against him, he did not yield. He is remembered as Athanasius contra mundum, “Athanasius against the world,” the words written on our crest.
